A Vibrant Witness
God's Beautiful Design for Women: Living Out Titus 2:1-5
If someone could listen to all your conversations, analyze your spending habits, and watch the way you use your time, would they see God working in your life?
Nancy Leigh DeMoss is beginning a new series from the book of Titus today and I would encourage those of you who are seeking an organized and purposed little study, to follow along as she encourages us as women, how to function in this world as believers in Jesus Christ. In a world where gender roles seem to be getting more and more confused, Nancy brings us back to scripture where we are reminded what our purpose is and where we find true fulfillment in this world! If you're currently without direction in your daily study time, hop on in here and see if this might be what you need to hear!

The flooding continues...
I can't seem to copy any pics (copywrited, I'm sure) but for those of you who wondered how serious the flooding is up here, click here. I don't think I've ever been this close to this type of flooding but it gave me a new perspective of how devastating this type of event is! Be sure to click on the captions at the bottom of each frame for a narrative of the location (for those of you who know the area).
I'm praying about what I might be able to do to help someone...but the Red Cross, National Guard, etc. seems to be pretty much on the ball. I think I'll call the church and see if any of "ours" need a place to "land" for a few days/weeks. It's just amazing!

Update on Dad...
Just wanted to let you all know that Dad seems to be doing a little better. Ran into his Cardiologist today and she basically said all the tests were coming back fine, he just so dizzy when he stands up. She thinks it's definately his BP dropping so she upped that med some more and they took away a couple others. He's eating very well and did fine with PT today walking in the halls. Dr. Marshall said he MAY be able to come home tomorrow if his BP comes up! We'll see...it may take one more day. Thank you for praying!

The Outskirts of IKE

Widespread flood damage...80/94 is closed and all interstate traffic is being diverted south on Ridge Rd. The lights are out at 41 and Ridge. Now THATS a treat!I can't imagine what they are going through in Texas! They say this storm today is a direct result of Ike. We know it's a direct result of the Lords hand! Thankfully, tonight our home is high and dry!
Yes, It DID!!

It rained all day yesterday, all night and we woke to rumbles of thunder and still more rain today! Went to early church and had to find a detour through Crown Point to get home. (in front of Timothy Ball Elementary) Then, had to drive like 2 mph through 2 places on 231 b/c of flooding. Amy...Tina's HOUSE is 1/2 way underwater!!! Good thing she passed on last year! Then...under the RR track bridge coming into St. John, flooded again. Made it through that spot, over 41 and the "racetrack pond" was flooding over the road! Just glad to have made it home!
THEN...we find that our back porch is flooding b/c of rising water in our low spot! GREAT!! We changed clothes, got out there and moved all the furniture to high ground (up by the house) and have drenched rugs!
In everything GIVE THANKS! hmmmmmmmm....
Update at 5:00 p.m. The rain has stopped for now and the water is receding!! The porch is still wet, but no water is standing in it any longer! The news says there are 1000's without electricty and much water damage. We didn't get to the hospital today, but I did talk to Dad and the staff is concerned about the levy again. (The hospital flooded and was closed down for 6 mos. last year from water damage!) It really looks like the worst is past though. Dad's BP is still really low and they are now giving him meds to raise it. I'll get a better report tomorrow, when they are fully staffed and I hope to catch a Dr. or two! He's in a regular room and eating very well, so that is good news! Thank you for your continued prayers!

Did Ike Come this far north??
Since we have no sun-worshipers here anymore, it was time to take down this money pit! What fun we had getting our toes wet these past 9 years, but I lost my pool girl...so it was time. Funny thing, I'm sorta excited about it! Who knows what will be planted in here next summer, but I'm sure there are more flowers in our future! And maybe a Firepit? I dunno...Dennis doesn't know why we'd do that since we just put a screened in porch on to KEEP THE MOSQUITOES OUT...why would we want to make another space to go let them get us? We're thinking and praying about the direction we should go. I'll bet he wins on this, but a gal can dream can't she?
A young man Adam works with asked if he could come take it down "for us" and haul it off to scrap the metal. "Let us think about it.." "YES!!!!" So thankful for Tim...that he was here early, worked hard and left happy! (only a youngin' could work that hard in the pouring down rain and be happy about it!) Ha!

Here we go again...
Hey there prayer warriors.
Dad called about 2 hrs. ago and they are putting him back in the hospital b/c he fell 3 times last night. I think it's probably all the medications they have him on, but when a patient comes into the office battered and torn, they have to get serious, so he's back in for the weekend at least. They are going to run a number of tests to make sure it's meds and hopefully get him off some of them. His BP was pretty low, so that could be the culprit as well and he's not too good about taking THAT particular medication b/c it's only to be taken when his BP drops. Then there is the issue of dehydration. He's NOT a water drinker and never will be!
I'll keep you posted, but please keep him in your prayers. He's so anxious about things.
Thanks a million!
